but you need to be in melee range and threatening the target for it to work. I'd take both Devoted Spirit strikes, both White Raven strikes, and Stone Bones from Stone Dragon. I doubt you'll be doing a ton of melee, so your Strikes won't matter overmuch. White Raven is great for buffing allies, and the extra focus on Devoted Spirit helps you qualify for higher-level Devoted Spirit maneuvers granted by your JPM levels. You still get the +1 BAB and +2 Fort, and access to Devoted Spirit and White Raven. Since you're going to focus more on buffage, and JPM focuses on Desert Wind and Devoted Spirit, go with Crusader. but Warblade has crummy synergy with Jade Phoenix Mage. Of all the adept classes, only Warblade plays directly into his ability scores at Level 1. As noted in the OP, he's looking for a single Martial Adept level to qualify for JPM. He's not taking enough Martial Adept levels to take advantage of the Swordsage's Wisdom-based boosts. All in all, I would go crusader if you are unimpressed with warblade, and look for maneuvers that do not necessarily involve healing, since that seems to be taken care of!ĮDIT: first time I notice battle clarity capped to class level. I will grant that Steely resolve/Furious Counterstrike is good at all levels, though. Not sure it is that much of an improvement! Also, swordsage will help if you want higher level Desert Wind maneuvers. Weapon aptitude, which you forgot to mention, can be interesting combined with feats one would not normally take (improved critical, for example)Īlso, strictly speaking, weapon focus really better than +INT to reflex for your guy? Swordsage pretty much comes with a feat tax for proper maneuver recovery. Moreso considering your build has a whopping +5 base reflex save at level 20 (unless swordsage). Warblade opens up not only the ability to take Iron Heart Surge (with martial study or heroics - nice trick btw), but also White Raven Tactics (same martial study trick needed - I am not sure it is available to crusader and/or swordsage)īattle clarity, while not OMG, is still a nice plus, given a gish with high INT. Adaptive Style "fixes" their recovery mechanism.Away from books, but if it gives more, you can take staple low level DS maneuvers and quickly meet pre-reqs anyways They're just as good at frontlining as Warblades, really. As a result, you can TWF without penalties, get Dex to damage with each hand, use boosts like Burning Blade and Searing Blade with Strikes like Pouncing Charge to pile the damage up, cover your saving throws with Diamond Mind maneuvers. My favoirte Swordsage build is Swordsage 1/Psychic Warrior 2/Swordsage +x/Bloodclaw Master 2/Swordsage +y. This can be very effective, with Pouncing Charge, say, or Time Stands Still. Swordsages get WIS to damage with strikes of their favorite school.

Dex to damage and Dex & Wis to AC in light armor mean a high AC without giving up damage. Swordsages get access to Shadow Hand, and can thus take Shadow Blade.
#Warblade maneuvers 3.5 plus#
Swordsages know more maneuvers than the Warblade, who gets, what, one of every level after the first, plus the every-fourth-level switch-out? They can ready more, too.

#Warblade maneuvers 3.5 full#
Swift + Standard isn't much better than Full Round the Warblade just gets a single regular attack. Compared to the Warblade's Swift Action, that still looks bad-but the Warblade has to use a standard action to attack or flourish his weapon when he does that. That means they use a full-round action to recover all of their maneuvers (and switch out whichever ones they want). At first glance, their recovery mechanism sucks, but every Swordsage (pretty much) takes Adaptive Style. Well, "least awesome" is probably a better descriptor. The Warblade looks good, but is IMO the worst of the lot.
